Orchid substrate designed to provide maximum aeration, stable support, and even moisture distribution around the roots.
The base consists of large pieces of pine bark, which create an open, coarse structure. Coconut chips, tree fern fiber, and sphagnum moss help retain and distribute the necessary moisture without turning the mix into a dense, conventional substrate.
It is suitable for epiphytic orchids that thrive in a coarse bark-based substrate, especially Phalaenopsis and similar orchids grown in suitable conditions.
It is ideal for orchids grown in ventilated or perforated pots and other epiphytic plants that require a high supply of air to the roots.
It is also an excellent choice for growers looking for a more comprehensive alternative to plain pine bark. Species with very fine roots or exceptionally high humidity requirements may need a finer mix with a higher water-retention capacity.
Use directly from the package in a ventilated orchid pot or another container with good drainage.
Carefully remove loose and decomposed remnants of substrate from the old root system, but do not unnecessarily clean healthy attached roots. Place the plant in the pot and gently spread the mix around the roots. Do not crush or firmly compact the substrate.
After repotting, water thoroughly and allow excess water to drain away. The drying rate depends on the type of pot, the amount of roots, air circulation, temperature, and ambient humidity. Therefore, check the condition of the roots and the moisture deeper in the substrate instead of watering according to a fixed schedule.
The mix does not contain added fertilizer. During the active growing season, use a suitable orchid fertilizer at the appropriate concentration.
The substrate is supplied in an 8.5 l bag.
