Substrate for anthuriums designed to create the ideal balance of moisture, aeration, and fibrous structure around sensitive, developing roots.
The mix remains open enough to allow oxygen to flow to the roots, while maintaining more even contact with moisture than very coarse mixes intended, for example, for Monsteras. The combination of two sizes of pine bark, coarse perlite, coconut husk chips, and tree fern fiber creates a stable, airy environment for healthy root growth.
It is suitable for terrestrial and epiphytic anthuriums that prefer an airy organic substrate, as well as for plants with a fine to moderately strong root system.
It is also well suited to collector anthuriums that benefit from an even distribution of moisture around the roots, and for growing in ventilated pots with good drainage.
It is an excellent choice for growers whose very coarse substrates dry out too quickly or unevenly around anthurium roots.
Use straight from the bag in a pot with good drainage.
Choose a pot that matches the size of the current root system so that an unnecessarily large volume of unused substrate is not left around the roots. Place the plant in the pot and loosely fill the mix around the roots. Gently tap the pot to help the substrate settle. Do not compact the substrate.
After repotting, water thoroughly and allow any excess water to drain away. Check moisture below the surface of the substrate as well, and adjust watering to the specific plant, pot size, and environmental conditions.
The mix does not contain added fertilizer. Once the plant is well rooted and actively growing, provide suitable nutrition.
The substrate is supplied in practical 8.5 L packaging.
