A specially blended, extra-aerated substrate for Monsteras, created with their strong root system, rapid growth, and the long-term needs of mature climbing aroids in mind.
Large pieces of pine bark and coarse perlite create pronounced air pockets in the mix and ensure fast drainage of excess water. Coconut chips, tree fern fiber, and a bioactive base also help retain enough available moisture between waterings.
30% large pine bark: The 15–25 mm fraction creates the main coarse structure of the mix and provides plenty of space for the strong roots of Monsteras.
30% coarse perlite: Particles approximately 5–15 mm in size ensure a light, airy structure and help excess water drain away quickly.
Washed and buffered coco chips: Particles approximately 10–15 mm in size retain the necessary moisture without fine coco dust that could compact the mix.
Tree fern fiber: Helps distribute moisture evenly while maintaining an open, airy structure in the mix.
Structure designed for Monsteras: A higher proportion of coarse bark and larger air pockets than in mixes intended for plants with finer roots.
Laboratory-verified development: The tested sample of the mix reached a pH of approximately 5.8.
Prepared in Prague: We measure, mix, check, and pack every blend at PlantScraper.
Use directly from the bag in a stable pot with sufficient drainage holes.
Choose a pot size that matches the plant’s current root system and any anchoring needed for a moss pole. Avoid an unnecessarily large pot with a large amount of unused substrate.
Pour the mix loosely around the roots and gently tap the pot so the individual particles settle into the gaps. Do not crush the bark or compact the substrate firmly.
After repotting, water thoroughly and allow all excess water to drain away. Check moisture deeper in the pot as well, as the coarse structure may cause the surface of the mix to dry out sooner than the center.
The mix does not contain added fertilizer. Adjust fertilizing to the plant’s active growth phase and growing conditions.
