The staghorn fern holder is designed for staghorn ferns (Platycerium) and other epiphytic plants that naturally grow attached to surfaces rather than in a traditional plant pot. It provides the plant with a stable, airy base that can be filled with sphagnum moss or a coarse, well-draining substrate.
The result is a natural and elegant growing method, giving the roots plenty of support, moisture, and air. You can place the holder on a wall, shelf, or table.
The front section of the holder is equipped with a removable magnetic cover, which makes planting and subsequent care easier. You can open the holder at any time without having to disassemble the entire system.
Top and side ventilation openings ensure airflow around the root zone. This is especially important for staghorn ferns, which need plenty of moisture around the roots, but do not tolerate an overly dense and persistently waterlogged environment.
The mount is available in three sizes: 15 cm, 22 cm, and 30 cm. The smaller size is suitable for young plants and compact arrangements, while we recommend the larger versions for more mature staghorn ferns with a larger root system.
The holder can be mounted on the wall or used together with the optional table stand. Screws, hooks, and wall plugs for wall mounting are not included.
For placement on a shelf or table, choose the version with the table stand.
Depending on the selected package variant, it includes 1× staghorn fern holder, 1× removable magnetic front cover, and line for securing the plant. The variant with a stand also includes a tabletop stand.
The plant, sphagnum moss, substrate, and wall-mounting accessories are not included.
Fill the holder with sphagnum moss or a coarse, airy substrate. For staghorn ferns, we especially recommend an orchid substrate with a layer of pure sphagnum moss on top. This combination gives the roots the support and moisture they need while maintaining sufficient air circulation.
Do not pack the holder too tightly - the goal is to secure the plant safely while keeping the root zone airy and breathable.
