Si Star is a mineral supplement containing silicon that supports stronger leaves and stems and helps plants better cope with stressful growing conditions. It is especially suitable for fast-growing tropical plants such as Monsteras, Philodendrons, Anthuriums and Alocasias.
These plants produce large, relatively soft leaves and, when grown indoors, are often exposed to fluctuating humidity, intense artificial lighting, heat from grow lights, irregular watering, or very rapid growth in airy substrates.
Silicon supports cell wall strength and the overall structure of the plant. Regular silicon supplementation can therefore contribute to stronger petioles, more resilient leaves and healthy new growth that is better able to handle indoor growing conditions.
The aim is not to make the leaves “hard”. The goal is to support the natural strength and resilience of soft tropical growth.
Si Star is especially appreciated by Monsteras, Philodendrons, Anthuriums and Alocasias, particularly when they are growing quickly or are kept in more intensive conditions.
It is suitable, for example, for plants grown in an airy aroid substrate, under grow lights, in self-watering pots, plant cabinets or on shelves with higher air humidity. It is also suitable for climbing plants on moss poles, which quickly produce increasingly larger leaves under good conditions.
Mixing into the substrate:
Use 30-50 g per 10 l of substrate. Mix evenly into the substrate before repotting. Ideal when preparing a fresh aroid mix or when repotting. For smaller houseplants, we recommend starting with the lower dose.
Watering:
Use 5 g per 1 l of water and mix thoroughly. Water the plant from above through the substrate. During the active growing season, it can be applied once a week as needed.
Self-watering pots:
Always apply from above through the substrate. Do not pour the powder directly into the water reservoir, where it may create sediment. After application, replace the water in the reservoir with clean water.
Surface application:
Use 80–100 g per m² once a month and then water thoroughly. This method is especially suitable for large containers, plant walls, or greenhouse cultivation. For standard houseplants, mixing into the substrate or applying with watering is more precise.
It is most beneficial during active growth, when repotting into fresh substrate, when growing under strong lighting, or during the period when climbing plants begin to produce larger leaves.
For houseplants, regular, moderate application is more suitable than high one-off doses.
Si Star is not a complete fertilizer. It supplies plants with silicon and supports their structure and resilience, but it does not replace balanced base nutrition.
Do not add the powder to moss poles. For plants growing on a moss pole, apply Si Star to the root zone in the pot.
Do not sprinkle it directly into reservoirs of LECA, Pon, semi-hydro, or hydroponic systems. This is a powdered product that may settle, cloud the water, and cause mineral deposits to build up.
Si Star also will not solve weak growth caused by insufficient light or root problems. For example, if a Monstera is stretching toward the light, the light conditions need to be improved first. In the case of root rot, watering, substrate aeration, and the condition of the root system must be addressed first.
Do not exceed the recommended dosage in small pots. A higher amount of minerals does not automatically mean better growth and may lead to their accumulation in the substrate.
Do not mix the powder directly with concentrated fertilizers. When applying through watering, always mix it thoroughly in water first. Do not leave dry powder sitting on the surface of the substrate without watering it in afterward.
Monitor the effect primarily on new growth - weak or damaged leaves that have already formed will not become stronger after silicon application.
Avoid inhaling dust when handling, prevent contact with eyes, and keep out of reach of children and pets.
